Thermodynamic cycles used in power engineering
Suchomel, Josef ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
Power engineering is one of the most important parts of industry. Among other things, it deals with production of electricity, without which many of us can no longer even imagine life. All energy devices can be described on the basis of different thermodynamic cycles. And with these thermodynamic cycles this thesis deals. It lists both, the most important cycles, such as Rankin Clausius cycle, which is the basic cycle of most of the power plants, as well as less known, resp. almost new thermodynamic cycles. The emphasis of the whole work is also focused on the advantages and limitations of the stated cycles and on their application in practise, too.

Riemel, Pavel ; Novotný, Pavel (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
Objective of bachelor’s thesis is for main predetermined geometric, thermodynamic and operation parameters cylindrical unit of line three-cylinder compression-ignition engine perform calculation of thermodynamic cycle, project basic dimensions of piston group and for noted operating modes perform strength check of con rod eye. Resulting values compare with comparable compression-ignition engine and verify its appropriate functionality. In preamble of work is mentioned compression-ignition engine, its basic usage, principle of function and description its main parts. The work is compound of two basic parts. The first contains description of calculation with related graphic and the second calculating supplement in which are calculations of thermodynamic cycle, forces reacting on piston group, strength calculation and control of con rod eye. At the close results of calculation are analysed.
Thermodynamics of ideal gases in Matlab
Zábojník, Jakub ; Klimeš, Lubomír (referee) ; Štětina, Josef (advisor)
In terms of bachelor’s thesis a toolbox of functions for basic computing in thermodynamics with ideal gases and their mixtures was built in environment of computer program MATLAB. Source code of these functions and their description are parts of this thesis. Among others fundamental characteristics of thermodynamic values and terms on which the creation of functions was built, and instruction for calling of functions are mentioned here. Functions in toolbox imaginary are divided to some groups. This dividing is results from principle of thermodynamic calculation. Functions from two neighbouring groups are directly tied together. For lucidity of function sequences and for functions usage and toolbox explanation the examples of using functions examples of functions usage in specific thermodynamic calculations.
Powertrain of in-line five-cylinder diesel engine
Zarambukas, Michalis ; Novotný, Pavel (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The aim of this graduation theses is geometrical and thermodynamic calculation of determined five-cylinder diesel engine and calculation of operation parameters of cylindrical unit and then to compare them with real motor and strike the balance. Other step is to work out thermodynamic cycle and draw the result in p-V diagram. Then to calculate power, effecting on piston which includes proposal of basic proportion of piston and wrist pin, and it follows weigh of piston group and maximal quickening and inertial force of piston group, calculation of specific pressure and pressure in wrist pin. Other purpose is to determine basic proportion for piston rod and to focus on material qualities of con rod eye and bronze case, determination of maximal pressure due to inertial forces comming from gas pressure and security against possible slip and tiredness. At the beginning is described diesel engine from its foundation, its activity to its use in company. At the close are reviewed the results of the calculations.
Model of Stirling Engine in PSCAD
Gallo, Michal ; Kopička, Marek (referee) ; Radil, Lukáš (advisor)
This dissertation about the Stirling engine deals with the history and formation of the heat engine. At the beginning of this work, fundamental parts and their functions are described, elucidating the principle of operation explained by the thermodynamic cycle and subsequently comparing the ideal and the real Stirling cycle and last but not least provides various modifications whilst describing their differences. The mathematical model of the Stirling engine is processed by Schmidth’s theoretical analysis and thereafter is created in PScad v46. The process of creating a model is shown in one of the chapters of this dissertation. The results were taken into account in the design of 3D models in Inventor Professional by Autodesk. The work concludes with the evaluation of the computational model and its functionality as well as the documentation of the 3D model.
Stirling Engine
Vondruš, Jan ; Kloss, Ondřej (referee) ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the description and calculation of a closed regenerative thermodynamic cycle. In the theoretical part of the thesis, there is described history of the engine, the principle of its function, differences between particular design variants, and the use of the engine in the past and nowadays. In the other part of the work, there is described the principle and calculation of ideal Stirling cycle. In addition, there are included positives as well as negatives of applying the heat devices based on this cycle. Practical part of the work deals with the calculation of ideal Stirling cycle with the use of Schmidt theory. The primary aim of this bachelor thesis is then to compare and contrast the results gained from both of the calculation methods. In the end, the results of the thesis show that the use of Schmidt theory gives lower, i.e. more accurate, values of engine's parameters compared to the use of Stirling ideal cycle.
